How to avoid injury when swinging meel
Novice meel swingers typically injure themselves in one of two ways.
The first way is fairly obvious. The meel falls on the head or the shoulder.
The second is less obvious. The tendon connecting the triceps to the elbow becomes painful and inflamed.
I explain the reason for the injuries, and how to avoid them.

1. Create space behind your shoulder for the meel to fall into
To avoid the first kind of injury, you have to move the meel back, and the shoulder forward. This creates space behind the shoulder for the meel to fall into.
Hold the meel upright. Twist the torso slightly. One meel moves backward, the other moves forward. Initiate the meel turn with the meel that was moved back.
