More torpedo clubs!
There is a large Natal mahogany near our civic centre. It is quite an old tree. Occasionally branches that have been attacked by insects get broken by strong wind and fall down. I found two branches that looked suitable for making clubs, so I brought them home to turn into clubs. Here is a picture of the tree that supplied the branches. You can see some of the fallen branches lying near the bottom of the trunk.
The wood, like most mahoganies, has a beautiful grain and is soft and easy to work. It also has a low density, probably about 0.48 g/cm3, judging by my test cube in a microwave measurement. So my mahogany torpedo clubs will weigh considerably less than the grey ironbark clubs, probably around 700 grams when fully dry.

Update 12 October 2014. I have finally varnished the clubs. The varnish highlights the patterns in the grain.
I do not use these clubs often. I find the button is too big for my small hands. So instead of filing down the button, I will give them to a friend with big hands.
