Beer made with caramel sugar
I use sugar to make a caramel syrup. The syrup is a deep reddish brown colour.
I use the caramel syrup to make beer. The caramel beer has a fiery orange brown colour. I have an Imperial topaz with the exact same colour!
The caramel beer is very foamy. But it has a lovely taste.

Caramel is not a complete food for yeast. So I add amino acids, other nitrogen compounds, trace minerals, essential fatty acids, and a vitamin supplement.
You usually don't have to do this when you use malt extract to make beer, because the malt contains all the nutrients required by the yeast.
